Sunny
Tribute :  Sunny

Passed 3/27/2007

Sunny was the very first Siberian Husky we ever adopted from rescue. He was found wandering the streets of Paterson, NJ, a pretty rough area, skinny as a rail and covered with ticks. He was pulled from the shelter by Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue about two hours before he was to be put to sleep and fostered by Mare McHenry.

We first met Sunny at a park in Haddon Heights, NJ, where we introduced him to our dog, Shadow, and our daughter’s dog, Echo, Shadow’s sister. We took him back to our daughter’s house, where he played chase with Shadow and Echo for a couple of hours. Finally, we left to return home with Shadow and Sunny in the back seat.

Sunny was a little scared by this new experience, but Shadow reassured him that everything would be fine and he seemed to relax. It didn’t take long for Sunny and Shadow to become best friends, sort of like big brother Shadow and little brother Sunny. The two were inseparable until the day Sunny went to the Rainbow Bridge.

We loved to take Sunny to events with our own rescue group, Tails Of The Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue, because he was so good at meeting people. He would win their hearts by licking their hands, especially if they gave him a treat. He was also a donation magnet. When we told his story, people inevitably grabbed their wallets and headed for the donation jar.

About a week before he passed, Sunny had several teeth removed because of periodontal disease. After that, he had trouble eating, but we assumed it was because of his teeth. It turned out to be much worse, however – stomach cancer.

Sunny was a real trouper right up to the end, never complaining and always happy to see us. The last time we saw him, however, it was obvious that he was ready for his final journey. We held and stroked him as he went to sleep, our eyes burning with tears as we told him how much we loved him. He passed peacefully and we cried all the way home.

Wear your silver harness with pride, Sunny. We know that you will be there to greet us when we reach the Rainbow Bridge.

Lindsey
Tribute :  Ms.Lindsey crossed the rainbow bridge May 5, 2007. She is deeply missed by us and her 2 brothers, Jax and Cyclone (also adopted from the rescue). We adopted her 4 years ago. She came to us shy and scared. It took her a year to totally trust us. From her actions we can tell her previous life was not a very good one. At least we know that her last 4 years were great ones. She was spoiled rotten. Lindsey was the Queen of the house. Both boys listened and followed her commands. She was our couch potato. Lindsey is the only husky we know that didn’t like snow.

In January we found out she had cancer. They said we would have her 6 months maybe a year with her. She only lasted 4 months. Lindsey was lucky though, she was never sick and didn’t suffer. She was so happy and loved.

We deeply miss our very special Lindsey. We will be together again.

Love,
Dad, Mom, Jax, and Cyclone

Toby
Tribute :  Toby,
When you suddenly came into our lives at the age of 10 weeks you showed us the joy of having two huskys. Your 6 year old "sister" showed you how to be a dog. You grew into a strong, striking and loving dog. When your sister died when you were 7 it broke your heart and ours. We helped each other through it and we had 5 more great years with you. But before you went to be with Reeba you helped me when my heart was broken. I hope you know how much we love you and know that one day we will be together again.

Kodiak
Tribute :  Kodiak you were such a sweet handsome boy. Your sister Panda bossed you around your whole life but I think when she died you were lost with out her. For three weeks you wandered around looking for her and then you laid down and did not get up again. I hope you are together waiting for me and that the treats are never ending for you. You deserve them and more. I love you and miss you.

Panda
Tribute :  Sixteen years ago today you entered my life and filled it with joy. My little princess, born of a rescue, who was meant for another. As always you were wiser than I and you know I needed you. You choose me and stayed by my side for the rest of your life.
I smile when I think of the way you danced through life taking such joy in every minute we were together. You were beauty and grace and never walked if you could run and jump. I always wondered if you were really a dog or an angel sent down from heaven to watch over me. Especially when I looked into those blue eyes that were so much wiser than any I have ever seen. You ruled our house and hearts with you love and mischief and we would give anything to hear your woo woo one more time. We miss your Panda-itude and know that we were so lucky to have shared our lives with you. If only it didn’t hurt so much now that you are gone. Love you always Miss Panda Princess!

Sargeant Sabre
Tribute :  It was six months together that we lost my best friend. It’s been a tough six months. Sabre had the best personality, so smart and so stubborn. When we took him for a walk and he wasn’t ready to come in, he would pull his "sit down" strike and we couldn’t budge him-not til he was ready. I’ll never forget how he rewarded me when I made him come in when I had to leave for work one day. We left me three "presents" on my side of the bed on the dry cleaning bags I had left there. He had never before or after had any "accidents" in the house. Somehow I knew he didn’t have any accidents that day either! I miss him terribly and Christmas and this winter will be especially difficult. I know he’s happy and healthy and running to his heart’s content now. Enjoy yourself Sabs- I miss you and love you

Mollypop Skittles
Tribute :  Molly was the sweetest Husky ever. She loved her baby, Jen. As you can see in the pic, she loved to have books read to her. Actually, anything she could do to spend time with "her baby" would be fine with her. Molly was a great hairy daughter, as well as a hairy sister. She is so missed, as she passed over the rainbow bridge on Dec. 14 2006. The house is empty and we all miss our fluff ball.

Bandit
Tribute :  Bandit was a joy and "perfect" sibe from the moment he got off the plane. He was our big ,gentle Bear.He lovingly fit into our family of human babies, cats, bird, blind poodle and his soul-mate , "Gracie" my blind Sibe. He gave all of us unconditional love . He was about to get his CGC and TDI when Gastric torsion ended his much too short life with us. He fought hard through 2 surgeries in 3 days. My heart will never be the same and Gracie and I miss him every moment. Thank you DVSHR for letting us experience our beautiful, gentle, faithful ,loving Bandit. I’ll never forget how you always looked into my eyes.
