Oreo
Gender :  -Male-
Age :  1-2 years
Success Story :  Oreo was an owner surrender from South Philadelphia. He was adopted from a breeder at about 6 weeks old and never received the social skills that he should have learned from his litter mates at 8 to 12 weeks. His first family didn’t have time to train or exercise him. A few months ago he was essentially a 17 month old Siberian with the training and skills of a 3 to 4 month old puppy and 17 months of pent up energy. Just a big bull, full of love that just didn’t know any better. Oreo has come a long way in the last 2 months. While in foster with us and later in foster with the DVSHR Vice president, Oreo learned some basic commands and obedience. He is eager to please and loves praise when he does the right thing. Oreo learned SIT, STAY, LIE DOWN, GET DOWN, DROP IT, LEAVE IT, EASY and he was in the process of learning WAIT the week leading up to his adoption.

The Auman' family met Oreo at the Hike N Howl and were instantly attracted to him. Tom and Dana live in a beautiful home in Downingtown with their 2 young children, Chris and Kate. The Auman's recently lost their yellow lab, Denver, who crossed the rainbow bridge a few months back. They were looking to fill the emptiness in their home by adopting and falling in love with a new dog. Oreo was that lucky dog.

We scheduled an introduction and home check for the Sunday after the Hike N Howl. It couldn’t have gone better. Oreo was bonding with Tom immediately and trying to see how much Tom would let him get away with. He was following Dana around the house and investigating Chris and Kate. We did the home check, demonstrated the commands he knows and then went for a walk together and finally let them have some alone time with Oreo to bond and discuss their decision to finalize the adoption. When we came back, Tom was carrying a crate into the house which told me they had made their decision.

Their 4 year old, Kate had already learned to properly correct Oreo's curios puppy nature. Kate was at the kitchen counter and Oreo jumped up to investigate. Kate said "Get down Oreo" and he immediately got down and looked to see if she was pleased with his response. We knew we had a match made in heaven. The Auman's asked us to go to Pet Smart with them to pick out supplies for Oreo. The family and Oreo loaded up in the van. We followed them in our car. During the ride, Oreo picked up one of Kate's toys in the van and she told him to "Drop it” Again he listened! We went through Pet Smart, picked a food, a collar, a long lead and some sturdy toys and said our tearful goodbyes to Oreo. He happily jumped in their van and didn't look back. We then knew, that he knew, he was finally home. Thanks to the Auman's for opening their heart and their home to our special foster boy. ---Fosters – Jeff & Carly

SUKA
Gender :  -Female-
Age :  2-3 years
Success Story :  After months in foster with us we have decided to adopt our baby. When we started this journey we didn’t want to adopt a dog or own a dog. Life has its twists and turns and we all have thought of this responsibility as a family and want our baby Suka to be incorporated into our new life and bump our family size to 6. She has a family that will love her forever and be treated like everyone else.

Dylan -
Gender :  -Male-
Age :  3-4 years
Success Story :  There is not enough room on the internet to describe what Dylan means to this rescue. He is the most unique dog we have had thus far and was in our program for almost two years. As fate would have it, "Dilly" literally picked two of the classiest and most caring individuals on the planet. This adoption story created its own path and destination. Now, Dylan, his new step sister, and human family can reap the rewards of so many individuals’ hard work. Thanks to all and we love you Dilly Bar.

SHREK (Admiral)

Success Story :  This gentle giant was used as a stud dog in the beginning of his life. Left mostly outside with other males, he never really knew a family life.
