Zoltar

Gender :  -Male-
Size :  Medium (40 - 60 lbs)
Age :  1-2 years
Coat Color :  Black / White
Eye Color :  Blue Eyes
Description :  It is amazing to us how a dog like Zoltar can be an unclaimed stray. This young, petite, lad is quite a catch.

Zoltar creates new meaning to the word "affectionate" If he were a human, you would say he is "touchy/feely". It is not good enough to be just near you, he needs to be touching you. This little guy seeks out laps and snuggle sessions. Forget doing any exercises or work on the floor unless you can do it with a 46 pound fur ball sitting on you. Be careful going up and down the stairs that he doesn’t trip you.

Zoltar knows alot of the basics. He can sit, shake and stay. He knows "wait" when going out the door and coming out of the car. Before you put his food bowl down, he automatically sits and waves his paw. He stays until you release him. He lets you play with his food while he is eating. Zoltar does not protect his food or treats from the other dog.

In his foster home Zoltar appears to be completely housetrained. Just a few "incidents" while he learns how to communicate with his foster Mom. Zoltar is fine in the crate and likes to rearrange the blankets by picking them up in his mouth. If you straighten them out he grabs them as soon as he goes in. Zoltar has a sweet "baby" Siberian voice and he may sing the blues in the crate if you are still in the house. At night, he doesn’t make a peep.

The foster family is working on leash training this athletic pup. He does pull and although he is small, he is very strong. Because of his age and energy level, a fenced yard would be best. In his foster home Zoltar has a 6ft fence. He does not dig or look for escape routes. In fact, he really does not want to be in the yard unless someone is with him. This boy prefers human companionship over canine. We believe Zoltar has not been around other dogs. He does not know how to play. He lives with another Siberian in his foster home and she has not been successful in getting him to play. The same is true with a neighborhood dog. Zoltar gets loud and it seems out of frustration.
He would be fine as only dog or perphaps a calm playmate.

Zoltars’ foster family will continue to learn about him so look for more updates. For the right applicant, he is ready to go. Ask about Zoltar and come get "snuggled’ by our new boy.

Success Story :  Zoltar had a rocky start when he became a stray. He was not comfortable with strangers getting to close and touching him. After coming to rescue and a foster home he had a team of people work with him. After 6 weeks he was ready for his forever home. Zoltar now lives local to his rescue and his family even joined. He's a lucky, curiously happy little boy.
