The DVSHR is not a shelter. Our program consistes of foster homes and boarding kennels that provide care for dogs until new homes can be found. Because our resoures are limited and rely on the personal time commitment of volunteers, we must prioritize the dogs coming into the program.
Your Responsiblity
Owners wishing to rehome thier dogs must examine other options before placing thier dog in our program. This includes working through training issues or finding friends or family who can offer a permanent or temporary home. If no alternative is available outside of the DVHSR program, then owners must be willing to comply with the polices of the placement program provided below.
Our Promise
Any dog that enters the DVSHR program will remain a lifetime participant. We offer ongoing support for the new families and will take dogs back that are not perfect matches for the new families and keep the dog until the right home is found. Our polices are provided below.
