Adoption Process

Step I - Complete an Application

As a potential adoptive family, you must complete an application in order to be considered for adoption of any dog posted as ’Our Dogs’.  Dogs posted with shelter or owner information in the posting are not adopted through DVSHR.

Step II - Application Review

A volunteer will be assigned to your application and will contact you in 3-5 days.  The volunteer will discuss the information on your application and your knowledge of the Siberian Husky breed.  The volunteer will confirm with you that you are willing and able to make the commitment to care for a Husky for its lifetime. A home and yard check will be completed at this time. If approved for adoption, the volunteer will discuss the dogs available in the program and help you to determine what dogs would be the best match for your lifestyle and family.

Step III - Meet the dogs

We will set up a “Meet & Greet” session where you will have the opportunity to meet several  of our dogs.  This is the perfect time to see how your other animals or children will react to the new dog.
