About:

Meet Mischief Knight!

Mischief’s mom, Autumn Mae, was found as a stray. Despite all efforts her owners could not be found. After Autumn came into rescue her foster family noticed she was getting a little rotund in the belly. An x-ray revealed her secret, four puppies! The fluffs of joy were born on September 4, 2025, three boys and one girl. Autumn has been an excellent momma. Her puppies are also benefiting from being in a multi-dog household. They have been gaining positive social skills from their mentors.

Mischief Knight is very friendly and outgoing. When approached he reaches out his furry, puppy paws to embrace you. Mischief loves to give kisses and play with toys. This six month old boy especially likes to carry around a toy duck and bury it in the corner of the couch.  Mischief also loves to carry his food dish around, just in case you didn’t notice he finished his meal.

Mischief is the sentinel of the group.

At his first veterinary exam, a grade 1 heart murmur (the mildest) was detected. Heart murmurs in puppies can resolve themselves as the puppy gets older, which is the case with Mischief. At his five month old checkup the heart murmur could no longer be detected!

Mischief is a spunky boy who likes to keep up with his brother and sister. He has been in a foster home with Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes!

If you ever thought about having a loving and loyal puppy to go with you on your next big adventure or cozy up with you on the couch, Mischief will gladly fill that role with ease!

For more information, we refer to an article written by Janice Thomas DVM on Pet MD, “A small group of murmurs that are common in puppies are called benign (innocent or physiological) murmurs. These do not require any treatment because they usually resolve by 16 weeks of age. Regular monitoring every three to four weeks is advised to ensure that no other problems develop until the murmur resolves.”(https://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/cardiovascular/c_dg_heart_murmur)

Additionally, an article written by Malcolm Weir, DVM, MSc, MPH; Cheryl Yuill, DVM, MSc, CVH; Updated by Amy Panning, DVM,  on VCA Animal Hospitals asserts,  “It is very common for young puppies, especially large breed puppies, to develop an innocent heart murmur while they are growing rapidly. The murmur may first appear at 6-8 weeks of age, and a puppy with an innocent heart murmur will usually outgrow it by about 4-5 months of age. This type of murmur is benign (not harmful). In general, a physiologic or innocent heart murmur will have a low intensity (usually Grade I-II out of VI) and does not cause any symptoms or clinical signs.” (https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/heart-murmurs-in-dogs)
